Building down

Short answer

Placing a card on one of the next higher rank in a tableau column, such as a 7 on an 8.

Why it matters

Games differ in what else must match: alternating colours in Klondike and FreeCell, the same suit in Forty Thieves and Russian Solitaire, nothing at all in Spider.
