Golf solitaire online: one up, one down, no wrap
Reviewed · Every classic solitaire, and where to play it online
Golf uses the same one-rank-up-or-down idea as TriPeaks, but on seven open columns and with no wrapping, so a King is a wall. It is short and harder than it looks; the aim is to finish under par.
Picks are editorial, from the publisher of Solitaire Online (solitaire-online.com). They are not a measured ranking of every place to play these games.
How Golf plays
Thirty-five cards are dealt face up into seven columns of five. The bottom card of any column can be played onto the waste if it is one rank above or below the waste card, regardless of suit. When nothing fits, turn a card from the 16-card stock. There is no redeal. Clear all 35 tableau cards to win.
How to win more Golf games
- Never draw before checking all seven columns. With only 16 stock cards, each wasted draw is a large share of your margin.
- Deal with Kings early. Only a Queen can follow a King, so a King near the bottom of a column needs a plan.
- Keep columns roughly even. A column you never touch is five cards to clear at the end with no stock left.
What the best online Golf needs
The no-wrap rule stated plainly, a visible stock count, and a score that rewards finishing with stock to spare. Because every card is face up, a good version also makes the bottom card of each column easy to tap on a phone.
Where to play
Our pick is Golf on Solitaire Online, which plays the traditional no-wrap rules with a 16-card stock and a win bonus for unused stock. If you want more freedom, its Putt Putt variant lets Kings and Aces connect. Rules are in the Golf guide.
Questions & answers

What is the difference between Golf and TriPeaks?
TriPeaks wraps from King to Ace and uses three peaks; Golf does not wrap and uses seven open columns.
