Scorpion solitaire online

Reviewed · Every classic solitaire, and where to play it online

Short answer

Scorpion looks like Spider on one deck: seven columns, same-suit building and complete King-to-Ace runs, but you can move any face-up card with everything on top of it, as in Yukon. It rewards untangling.

Picks are editorial, from the publisher of Solitaire Online (solitaire-online.com). They are not a measured ranking of every place to play these games.

How Scorpion plays

Forty-nine cards are dealt into seven columns of seven, with some cards face down in the first columns, and three cards are kept back as a reserve to be dealt later. Build down in the same suit. Any face-up card can be moved together with the cards on top of it onto a card of the same suit one rank higher. Only Kings fill empty columns. Assemble four complete suits from King to Ace to win.

How to win more games

  • Uncover the face-down cards first. They hide the cards you will need.
  • Look for Kings that can head an empty column before you clear one.
  • Deal the reserve only when stuck, since its three cards land on columns you may want to keep clean.

Where to play

Our pick is Scorpion on Solitaire Online, with hints, undo and saved progress. If you like it, try Simple Simon, a fully open relative, on the same site.

Questions & answers

Is Scorpion like Spider?

Partly. Both build complete same-suit runs, but Scorpion uses one deck and lets you move unordered groups, as in Yukon.

What goes on an empty column in Scorpion?

Only a King, with any cards on top of it.
